The Bears Went Over The Mountain is one of Geeveston’s historic properties, which was completely remodeled into a customised accommodation establishment in 2002. It retains its old world charm with plenty of original features, including polished timber floors, casement style windows, high ceilings and lead lighting features, while offering modern luxury and comfort with heating, brand new beds and quality soft furnishings.
Other than the five (5) rooms, which all have private ensuite facilities, guests will enjoy The Bears’ Licenced Café & Tapas & Wine. Positioned at the front of house, the street frontage position is maximised with large feature windows and a warm heath fire for those cooler days.

Outdoor Spaces
Want to see some platypus? The Bears is a short walk from Geeveston’s Heritage Park. Geeveston is also known as the forest town and Heritage Park is right next to the town centre, bordered on its western side by the Kermandie River, which is home to a large and frequently sighted population of platypus. Indeed, if you take a stroll along the Platypus Walk, you are guaranteed to see some of these not-so-shy mammals.
Geeveston’s Heritage Park is great for families and nature lovers. This large green common is home to many native species of flora and fauna and other than the river, there are comfortable walkways and timber boardwalks, the Platypus Walk, a playground, covered seating and toilet facilities.
The Bears Went Over The Mountain continues to expand its services and facilities, for more information please don’t hesitate to contact us on phone 042 797 0545 or [email protected]
